What is a Drum?

Brake systems can consist of many different parts and systems. The brake drum is usually found on the rear wheels of vehicles. The pads on the inside of the drum rub against the inner surface of the drum when the brake is applied, allowing the vehicle to slow down or stop. Drums are made to withstand high temperatures. They are made of long-lasting, robust materials such as cast iron or steel.

When to Change the Brake Drum?

The life of the drum may vary depending on the type of vehicle and the frequency of use. On average, the drum lining should be replaced at 80,000 - 100,000 km. It is a vital part that allows vehicles to slow down and stop. Maintenance and replacement processes should not be neglected or postponed.

How Can You Tell If the Brake Drum Has Run Out?

It is not possible to see the pads inside the drum from the outside. Therefore, it is even more difficult to understand that it is finished compared to other brake types. Your relevant service or master can open the inside of the drum and check the condition of the brake pads. If there is excessive friction when you apply the brakes and the brakes have lost their old holding force, these are signs that they have run out. It is also a sign that the metal part that wraps the lining inside the drum becomes visible.

Brake Drum Prices

Drum prices may vary depending on the material and brand used by the drum manufacturer. When examining drum prices, you should also consider the warranty period. You should choose drums from reliable brands. You may be exposed to greater risks by choosing non-original drums of alternative brands because they are cheaper. As Frenbu brake drum manufacturer, we carry out our production processes by prioritizing your safety.
